If the fluid is very black and there is a substantial amount of debris inside pan and on filter, it may be a lost cause. Or you have a idle air control valve or TPS going bad, then repair codes by replacing failed sensor or shift control solenoid as needed. If no codes are present your transmission could have a internal failure. It's also been know that oil transmission fluid in the system will have a higher fluid retention causing the 2nd gear solenoid to stick causing the transmission to stay in second till the line pressure rises and drops back to first with a hard shift. The dealer has a Database tells you what shipped with car. Then look here. 97 grand, ZJ usa car? What engine, must be guess that tool? 4.0L or 5.2L the trans matches the engine and matching PCM. They cant be mixed up 42 and 44RE if in Europe and a diesel now's be the time to fess up, no?
